They say opposites attract, but in the case of Wang Yang the choice was to go for someone very similar. So similar in fact that he opted for a wife who shared his name exactly. It must have made for an unusual wedding ceremony: “Do you, Wang Yang, take Wang Yang to be your lawfully wedded wife?”
The couple from Hubei have identical names formed from two matching Chinese characters, reports the Chutian Metropolis Daily. More bizarrely still, the Wang Yangs were born on the same day (April 29, 1982). The situation does have one advantage: the husband and wife are said not to quarrel much. If I cursed my wife, says Wang, I’d be cursing myself too.
