According to the China Daily a boy from Sichuan became so obsessed with the Transformers franchise that he began drinking gasoline.
The boy’s father, Chen Dahai says his son saw a Transformers cartoon at a friend’s house and began to mimic the robots by drinking fuel.
He began by draining cigarette lighters; “when he drank half a bottle of gasoline stolen from our motorcycle, we were too shocked to say anything,” says the father. In fact, the 14 year-old has now been drinking gasoline for five years and has been diagnosed by Yibin No 4 Hospital as having “gasoline dependence”. He is also being treated for mental disorders. “He was a very smart boy,” laments his dad. “He could even repair the TV. Now he doesn’t even know seven plus 17.”
