In the pantheon of Chinese weirdness, here’s one deserving a high ranking. According to the Wenzhou Metropolis Daily, “a 40-something woman” boarded a local bus, and after paying for a ticket, sat down and removed all her clothes. The bus driver told the newspaper: “She sat naked for a good 15 minutes. Obviously everyone on the bus was shocked and embarrassed. No one said anything to her. Then she put on her clothes and got off.”

In a society that is prudish about nudity, such exhibitionism is rare. As reported in WiC9, deteriorating mental health is also an issue for a fast changing China. Zhang Mingyuan, director of the Shanghai Mental Health Office, estimates that 190 million Chinese suffer from some form of psychological problem. Presumably this lady was one of them…
