Big spender

The ‘dream customer’: every car salesperson has probably drifted off to sleep musing about just such a person. Well, it turns out he exists. He’s 40 years old and lives in the coastal city of Wuxi (see WiC38). The Yangtze Evening Post reports that he walked into Baocheng Motor Sales showroom and expressed an interest in BMWs. He then bought 22 of them. “We are aware that Wuxi businessmen are rich, but our sales department could not believe this at first,” recalls an executive with the showroom. The ‘big fish’ bought eight different models of the German luxury vehicle, paying Rmb22.27 million for the lot. The identity of the buyer hasn’t been revealed, but the car dealer says he runs a real estate firm. It’s speculated that he bought the cars to give as bonuses to his top staff.
