Wing and a prayer

Sometimes it’s better not to look out of an airplane window, especially if you are flying Kunming Airlines. Last week – while airborne – a passenger photographed a Kunming aircraft wing wrapped in aluminium tape. As the China Daily noted: “The unusual sight, which may be rare to most frequent fliers, has aroused a heated discussion online.” Some wondered whether the image was photoshopped, although the airline then admitted that the wing was taped up. But a maintenance engineer told the newspaper Yunnan Information that there was no need to worry. A part had been installed on the wing a day earlier, and the tape simply allowed the sealing glue to solidify during the flight. It landed safely.
