As lovers’ tiffs go, this one was serious. After arguing with his girlfriend, a man in Shanghai took her literally at her word. The Shanghai Daily reports that in the worst moment of a bad tempered exchange, she told him “you should go and die”. Accordingly he climbed dramatically out of their 20th floor apartment window, before beginning to descend the building’s exterior. Early risers on their way to work were then stunned to see a man clinging on to the air-conditioner unit on the sixth floor. Thinking this spiderman must be a thief the police were called.
Having descended 17 storeys, the man eventually entered an apartment on the third floor. The police took him to the station, but he was released without charge after his girlfriend arrived and they patched up their differences.
