Verdict of the Ukrainian billionaire Oleg Bakhmatyuk. He told the Financial Times that his firm UkrLandFarming has done deals with COFCO and New Hope to export food to the Chinese market. Ukraine made its first-ever corn shipment to China last month and is seeking more Chinese investment in its agricultural sector. “We are now building the pipeline, a sort of Ukrainian Gazprom, to pump these crops into China,” says Bakhmatyuk, speaking metaphorically, of the nations’ growing arable ties.
