Peru’s energy and mining minister Eleodoro Mayorga tells the Financial Times his country is set to become the world’s second-largest copper mining nation thanks to $20 billion of Chinese projects.

A subsidiary of Minmetals, for example, last month acquired Glencore’s Las Bambas copper project, which is expected to produce 450,000 tonnes annually when it goes into full production
