China’s Finance Minister Lou Jiwei criticises Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump over talk of 45% tariffs on Chinese goods. Last weekend Trump said again that China was waging “economic war” on the United States. Lou told the Wall Street Journal that China would retaliate with tariffs of its own and that “the US needs to recognise that the US and China are mutually dependent on each other”.
