Hank Paulson, former Treasury Secretary and a Republican, told the South China Morning Post this week that he did not believe Trump would be elected president. He also said Xi Jinping has “outlined the right reforms” and is “a very strong and ambitious leader” but that “there is big resistance from vested interests that don’t want to open up to competition” and particularly want to protect state-owned enterprises.
