Angels will soon be descending on the Pearl of the Orient. Victoria’s Secret angels, that is, with reports that the lingerie brand will host this year’s annual fashion show in Shanghai. Already 57 angels – including Gigi and Bella Hadid and Behati Prinsloo – have confirmed that they are part of the lineup and the show will feature a record number of ethnic Chinese models too (six, says ECNS.cn, noting that one is French-born). They include Liu Wen, Xi Mengyao, He Sui, Ju Xiaowen and newcomer Xie Xin (pictured).

It will be the first time that Victoria’s Secret has hosted its iconic show in China, with a company executive telling Jing Daily that the brand is feeling “very positive about the potential of the China market”. Even with just three stores in the country – plus a planned outlet in Beijing – the lingerie giant expects to generate as much as $150 million in annual revenues this year. Sales in China are expected to equal, if not exceed, those in the US in the longer term, although the company has not specified a timeframe for when the Chinese market will take top spot.
