Akbar Al Baker, chief executive of Qatar Airways, on the acquisition of a 9.6% stake in the Hong Kong carrier Cathay Pacific. The stake was purchased from Kingboard Chemical and it makes Qatar the third largest shareholder after Swire and Air China. Cathay’s stock fell 4.8% on the news, possibly because investors had been hoping that Air China might make a takeover bid for the Hong Kong carrier.
