
A tweet from President Trump, referring to three UCLA basketball players who had been detained in China for shoplifting (see WiC388). Trump was angered that one of the player’s fathers LaVar Ball had downplayed the US leader’s role in negotiating their release. “The father of LiAngelo [Ball] is unaccepting of what I did for his son and that shoplifting is no big deal,” tweeted Trump. “Shoplifting is a very big deal in China, as it should be (5-10 years in jail), but not to father LaVar… Very ungrateful.”
