Writing in the Financial Times, Michael Wooldridge, an Oxford professor of computer science, notes that Chinese academics submitted 1,242 papers to the recent Association for the Advancement of AI conference in New Orleans, versus 934 from America. When the event was first held in 1980 not a single paper was offered by Chinese researchers.
