A police officer is never truly off duty. That seems to be one of the morals of an arrest this month in the city of Xuzhou in Jiangsu province. The deputy director of the district police station decided to take some of his colleagues out for dinner. However, when they arrived at the restaurant they all thought the owner looked very familiar. They had a hunch it was a criminal nicknamed Brother Long whose photo had been distributed through the police’s internet system. But how to be sure? When the time came to pay, the officers shouted: “Heh, Brother Long, bill please”. The suspect – by natural reflex – answered to his alias with a yes, and told them how much they owed. According to Sohu.com the policemen then arrested him. Responses online to the nabbing has been mixed. Some praised the ingenuity of the policemen diners, but another netizen asked: “My question is – did they pay the bill?”
