
New World Development boss Adrian Cheng dismisses the notion that sustainable cosmetics will be popular in China. In an unusually candid interview with the Financial Times, Cheng described the mistakes he’d made when he tried to revamp New World’s 30 Chinese department stores just over a decade ago. Equating what he did with ‘la-la land’ he made the extraordinary admission: “We took out all the needs of customers”.
