Say it with flowers

A marriage proposal is often accompanied by roses, but an extravagant new record looks to have been set in Shanghai this week when 99,999 of them were on display when Mario Ho popped the big question. The 24 year-old son of casino mogul Stanley Ho took over three floors of his mother’s shopping mall in the city – festooning them with the afore-mentioned flowers – in order to propose to his girlfriend, Chinese supermodel Xi Ming. The lavish event saw Ho go down on one knee before the 30 year-old Victoria’s Secret ‘angel’ (see WiC390) as he proposed. “Remember when we were in Macau and I asked you if there was a possibility we could be together? Today, the question has turned into, Little Ming, you think we can be together forever? Xi Ming, marry me?” he asked. After she nodded, Ho turned to the crowd and announced: “She said yes.”

The proposal along with photos of the pair went viral on social media. Soon the number one trending topic on Sina Weibo’s hot search list was “Is Xi Ming pregnant?” If true, that will add yet another heir to the casino fortune built by Stanley Ho. The 97 year-old tycoon – who conceived Mario when he was 72 – has fathered a total of 17 children with four wives. Xi and Mario met on a Chinese reality TV show and have been together for just over a year. Xi has over 11.6 million followers on weibo and endorses international brands that include Biotherm.
