Devesh Kapur’s op-ed in the Financial Times warns that border skirmishes in the Himalayas are happening in a context similar to the Sino-Indian War of 1962 when the US was distracted (this time by the November election, last time by the Cuban Missile Crisis). Kapur, a director of Asia Programmes at John Hopkins University, added that “a high stakes game is clearly afoot”.
