Glencore CEO Ivan Glasenberg discusses with the Financial Times how China is tying up cobalt supplies in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the major source of that metal – which is vital for EV batteries. In comparison he said “Western companies [such as car giants] have not done so. They either don’t believe it is an issue or that they are definitely going to get batteries from China.”
