
Victor Gao, a former Chinese diplomat now with the Beijing-based think tank the Centre for China and Globalisation, told the Financial Times that China’s government “should stand firm on matters of principle but not be too distracted by anti-China hostility”, referring to statements coming out of the G7 and Nato summits.
