Li addresses drug issue

“More drugs for chronic diseases and common illnesses as well as more high-value medical consumables should be incorporated into the bulk-buying programme, as this is what people really care about”

Premier Li Keqiang said that the government’s bulk-buying of drugs and medical consumables had saved more than Rmb260 billion ($40 billion) of medical insurance costs and patient expenditures last year. Li said the State Council has decided to increase the programme to lower drug costs further.
