Former Google boss Eric Schmidt explains to the Wall Street Journal that America is falling behind China in 5G in practical terms. He notes: “America’s average 5G mobile internet speed is roughly 75 megabits per second, which is abysmal.” Schmidt adds that Huawei still has 30% of the global market for supplying 5G infrastructure.


“In China’s urban centres 5G phones get average speeds of 300 megabits per second – fast enough to download a high-definition movie in two minutes”
