
Australia’s Defence Minister Peter Dutton tells a local television channel that “My judgment is that President Xi wants a tributary state arrangement with Australia”. Dutton also described Australia’s military position as being as “dire” as it had been in the lead-up to the Second World War. He made his stark remarks in the wake of China’s recent security deal with the Solomon Islands.
