Taking a stand

“There should be no unilateral change to the status. We stand ready to support Taiwan as we do in standing up to Chinese aggression”


Comment made by UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at the G20 summit in Bali. He added that China “unequivocally” posed a “systemic challenge” to British interests and that it was “undoubtedly the biggest state-based threat to our economic security”. A scheduled meeting between Sunak and President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the G20 event was later cancelled.
