Sung Wen-ti, a political scientist at Australia National University, on Xi’s meetings at summits this month with counterparts from the US, Australia, France, Holland, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines. Sung told CNN that Xi’s meeting with Joe Biden also sent a message to his domestic audience that the “era of ‘G2’ has arrived”.
